If you want one answer to best Minecraft Skyblock servers for Java in October 2026: play Skyblock.net for the original, classic experience, ManaCube for an MMORPG-style Skyblock with jobs and skills, and CosmicSky for an OP, heavy-progression take. Hypixel SkyBlock is the big name, but it is a different game from a classic island map. MCHub is a multi-mode network that includes Skyblock.
We checked all five on their own sites on 26 October 2026. We give no player counts: the numbers on server pages change by the hour. Java Edition is at 26.3 as of that date, according to the Minecraft Wiki. This list is Java only; Skyblock.net, ManaCube and MCHub also take Bedrock players, but that is outside this page.
What is a Skyblock server?
Skyblock is a community-made game mode: you start on a small floating island with a tree and a chest, and build everything from there, using ice and lava for a cobblestone generator. The Minecraft Wiki credits Minecraft Forum member Noobcrew with creating it in 2011. In May 2026 the US trademark board ruled against a trademark application for the word "Skyblock", and the wiki says the name remains free to use.
Multiplayer servers split into a few play styles, covered in "How to pick" below: classic island challenges, MMORPG-style Skyblock, OP Skyblock, OneBlock variants, and Hypixel's RPG version. As server directories and map makers describe it, OneBlock is a Skyblock variant where you start on a single block floating in the void. Breaking it makes it regenerate with a new block or item, and as you keep breaking it, it moves through phases: early ones give basics like dirt and wood, later ones richer loot and tougher mobs. Details vary from server to server. We name no OneBlock server, because we could not verify one from its own site.
Skyblock.net: the original
Skyblock.net calls itself "the official home of the original Skyblock experience", created on 4 September 2011 by Noobcrew. Its play page describes the loop plainly: build and expand your tiny island, complete challenges, trade with other players. The address for Java is skyblock.net, and it tells Java players to use the latest available version.
Strengths: the most traditional take on the mode, with a challenges list, a shop and its own wiki. Weaknesses: it sells premium ranks, and we did not verify how far those go, so check before you buy. Status: active. Its homepage showed update posts dated 12 and 17 October 2026, and a 15th-anniversary post.
ManaCube Skyblock: MMORPG-style
ManaCube is a network of 10+ modes, including Parkour, Lifesteal, Prison and Earth Towny. Its own description of Skyblock is that it "blends classic island survival with deep MMORPG systems": jobs, skills, prestiges, island levels, custom enchantments and gear upgrades, and "alchemist minions" that gather resources for you.
The Java address is play.manacube.com. ManaCube's own pages also show mc.manacube.com in places, so if one does not connect, try the other and check in game. ManaCube says its perks are "fully EULA-compliant" and earnable through gameplay (its claim, not ours), and it also sells paid crates. Weakness: it is a network, so Skyblock is one mode among many. Status: active. Its site listed a Halloween update on 10 October 2026, and it has been online since 2013 by its own account.
CosmicSky: OP and heavy progression
CosmicSky is the Cosmic network's Skyblock server, at cosmicsky.net. Cosmic's own page says the older Cosmic networks ran from 2014 to 2023 and that "CosmicSky is back". The community-run CosmicSky wiki lists islands, automation, realms, adventures, PvP, enchants, events and extractions, so expect a deep, grindy, economy-heavy game rather than a quiet island.
Caveats: the wiki is community-maintained and was last edited in February 2026. It gives the game version as 1.20.4+ and an opening date of 26 July 2024. Treat both as community-reported and check the server's own site before joining. We found no first-party statement about pay-to-win. Status: running, based on Cosmic's own page.
Hypixel SkyBlock: the big name
This is the big name, and it is not a classic island map. It is a heavily customised RPG inside the Hypixel network. There is no separate address: join mc.hypixel.net, then go to SkyBlock from there. Hypixel is Java only (PC and Mac), and a July 2026 guide from Digital Citizen says SkyBlock needs Hypixel's official resource pack. We do not pin a Java version: the same guide says SkyBlock has dropped support for some older versions, so use a current release and read Hypixel's own notes.

MCHub: a network with Skyblock
MCHub describes itself as a network featuring Prison, Skyblock, Dungeons and Survival, with custom content and "competitive economies". It supports Java and Bedrock. Operator listed on its site: StriveServices LLC.
Weakness: we could not verify a join address, because sources conflict, and we found no Skyblock-specific details. Get the address from mchub.com/join. Status: site live with 2026 copyright, but we fetched no dated update posts.

How to pick a Skyblock server
- Classic: Skyblock.net. Small island, challenges, trading. Closest to the 2011 original.
- MMORPG-style: ManaCube. Skyblock plus jobs, skills and prestige, with other modes a click away.
- OP: CosmicSky. Automation, enchants and PvP layered on islands, with a bigger grind.
- OneBlock: a variant where you start on a single block in the void that regenerates when you break it, moving through phases as you go, rather than starting on an island. We did not verify any named server, so search a current directory and check the server's own site.
- Hypixel-style RPG: Hypixel SkyBlock, if you want a deep, polished RPG and do not mind that it is not a classic island.
